Who we are

A motivated human group and adequate infrastructure, which uses bio-optical technologies and sensors and high-level oceanographic instruments.

Our history

The name Plancton Andino is the combination and imagination of what happens with the geology, geography, bio-oceanography, culture and the landscape of the Chilean fjords. Where the Andes mountain range meets the sea and the microalgae that inhabit its waters are called "Andean plankton".

An area that differs from the competition and in general from small companies in Chile, is that Plancton Andino, as a development strategy, considers scientific research relevant, therefore, each year it participates in projects and consolidates itself through 1 to 2 annual scientific publications.

I+D+i

The main activities, products, businesses and/or services are in the field of aquaculture, operational oceanography of the inland sea and fjords, pollution studies in aquatic ecosystems, water quality analysis using technologies or bio-optical sensors free of chemical inputs or contaminating agents, study and monitoring of phytoplankton, red tides and/or harmful algae and advice on the environment and strong emphasis on I & D and innovation, among other activities.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

We are constantly looking for new ways to perform our services in the best way. We invest in technologies and develop scientific knowledge to later publish papers open to society. We have carried out R+D+i projects since our origins. Some of them, in conjunction with Corfo. An example of this is our BAS System.

SDG 14: Life below water

Made up of 80% marine biologists, we genuinely care about the health of our ocean and the balance in aquatic ecosystems. Ethics is always marked in our way of doing business and the well-being of the planet is the north that guides us to continue developing the company.
